Inspired by Alex Tucker

He’s dream is to make a living from physical movements, to make a living of Freerunning and in the future he probably will; but I’d rather see him handstanding rest of his life, because that’s the second gift he has, other than Freerunning.

Alex Tucker

Usually the guy standing is the person this article is about. Well this is a on hands site.

Eighteen years old and lives in Great Britain a place named Essex. Trains Freerunning all too often, word has it his a frerunner for hire.

How did you began doing handstands

I was out freerunning one day and I had been watching Livewire the day before. I had been inspired by his creativity and movements and then attempted similar things on my hands as to what he was doing. I also did basic level gymnastics from the ages of 10-12 and what inspires me the most is Chase Armitage; I study and analyse his style.

I train 5 days a week and around 30 hours a week. Around 40% of this is working on handstands.

Hows your food regime?

My diet really isn’t anything special. I tend to eat whatever I fancy instead of eating certain foods that would help with my training. For example I will have McDonalds, crisps and chocolate. I eat vegetables about once a week. I eat more fruit such as a banana most days.

Describe your favorite Handstand movement.

My favourite handstand movement is from standing on my feet on a rail and jumping into a handstand position on a rail that is directly in front of me (Handstand Precision). I love doing this as it feels great catching your whole body on just your hands and then pushing up to handstand as quickly and with as much power as possible. It is easy to progress with this as well because it can simply be performed by jumping from one rail to another that are further apart for more of a challenge. I do not carry out any strength training. I only work on handstands and this improves the strength in my upper body by practicing these on a regular basis.

One Armed Handstand. Or defying gravity while saying 'F' you with your other arm.

Which techniques are you working on right now?

With my handstands I am currently working on planches and one armed handstands. I can perform these skills however they need improving as my planches need to be flatter and I need to hold my one handed handstands for as long as I want without coming down by losing balance but by coming down out of choice. I will continue to keep practicing them which will improve my strength and balance meaning I should be able to do this in a few weeks or so.

Which direction are your training taking?

I am hoping to make a career out of freerunning. That is my dream. I believe I have the potential and ability however I just need to get my name out there and become more known. If I can do that then hopefully I will start getting some freerunning jobs such as films, adverts, shows and performances, music videos etc.

Let’s hope Alex don’t forget his handstands when he lands his contracts with his freeruning skills; because there is no doubt in this, he is bound to be discovered one day. Personal I’d like him to make more handstand videos because I know their just as inspirational as we need. Anyways the Videos below speaks for them self.
