Getting there

Let me begin with a warning:

Congratulations! This is a milestone in your handstand career – or whatever you’re using it for. But let one thing be clear, from this point and on, Gravity will HATE you. Gravity will try to seduce you, slowly kill you, abuse you, snap you, burn you, kick you, hurt you, round kick you twice, eat you alive, push you down, knock you down, irritate you, drop you on the floor, fierce you, try to set you on fire, laugh at you, spit on you, scare you, torture you – in general be your nightmare. So whatever you do, pray to for Otters Sake that gravity forgets you while you are practicing your handstand – if not, I’m not the one to blame. You have now been warned. Twice.

Getting there

A Handstand Article

So many times, I’ve seen people give up before they even got to the fun parts. I’m not blaming them, I understand very well, however I admire those who choose to get there; wherever they want to, and don’t get stuck somewhere random like a polar bear in a zoo – oh..such an epic human flaw.

Getting there huh?

Time to focus, you’re getting there – and by there i mean the following: Wherever what the word there means for you. Your about to arrive there, If there is new york to do a handstand – Well congratulations, you are going there. There can also be a 5 second hold. It can even be getting there with your lady, while doing a handstand. What I’m trying to state for you that by this point you shouldn’t be thinking of giving up, but aiming higher. Get my point? Good.

.

Set your mind on Focus

The trick now, is to hold focus on your progression. Every little further step you make, remember it. It’s a key element to having a steady progression.
Let me show and example for you. Let’s presume you read the past article about Handstand – The beginning. And your now at the end of the beginning – obviously since your reading this.
Now I also presume that since you’ve read the first article, you can a pull a nice handstand hold for quite a few seconds. And I also predict that you have used a fair amount time on this, more than you’ve planned – if you planned at all. All that hard sweating on your hands. Double it all, and reduce the “few seconds” part by half. That’s your progression for a good time forward. It’s true, if you used 1 week learning a 5 second hold, its gonna take you two weeks more , roughly, getting 7.5 second hold. That’s a joy killer for sure. Most people stop reading here, because they can’t stand the thought of more work, less reward. They have failed, they obviously didn’t read the first part of this section. “The trick now, is to hold focus on your progression.” Let me explain beneath

.

Time

Time is irrelevant. I mean, time is really all in your head. Now if you do what I told you, the time wouldn’t be an issues since your happy for every second your adding to the handstand hold! Making the two weeks seem as a half, more or less. Pretty amazing. Yes indeed. It’s neither a secret, nor a philosophers question with a followup answer and three more questions that you really don’t understand and neither does the philosopher himself; It’s just facts.

.

The point

It simply means that your getting used to do handstands, and your going trough a phase where you either give up, or you will continue doing handstands. For those of you that still do your handstands: congratulations – you can now be as proud as a baby polar bear catching his first seal – you’re about to get there. If you’re not doing handstands and use this article for other reasons let me end by stating one thing: I will not be responsible for your children.

Either way, in short terms, noticing the small things, will give you more joy than waiting for the whole package and then celebrate. It’s just like getting there with your lady, you don’t lie down and cry just because you failed a couple of attempts, you celebrate each and every step that brings you further to you goal: getting there.

I’m glad you understood me.
